Himachal Pradesh Boosts Social Security: Over 99,000 New Pension Cases Approved
The Himachal Pradesh government has approved over 99,000 new social security pension cases in the past three years, benefiting over 8 lakh individuals. In a significant move to address the needs of vulnerable populations, the Himachal Pradesh government has sanctioned over 99,000 new social security pension cases in the last three years. This action elevates the total number of beneficiaries in the state to over 8 lakh, according to a statement released on Thursday.
The newly approved cases span several fiscal years, with 41,799 in 2023-24, 41,012 in 2024-25, and 16,988 in 2025-26. The Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, emphasized that amendments to social security pension rules aim to expedite the disbursement process, ensuring timely financial support to recipients.
The reforms include critical changes like abolishing the income ceiling for pensions and removing the requirement of gram sabha approval for widows and persons with disabilities, thereby simplifying the application process. The government is further enhancing support by increasing pensions for individuals with 100% disability, marking a crucial step in supporting the most vulnerable sections of society.
