In a tragic incident, a 16-year-old boy from Chandigarh, Saurabh Kumar, drowned in the Nawanagar stream in Himachal Pradesh's Solan district, authorities revealed on Wednesday.
According to reports, Saurabh's brother Sonu Kumar was informed about the incident by a friend, prompting family and locals to initiate a frantic search. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) joined the efforts on Wednesday morning, culminating in the recovery of the body, now sent for a post-mortem.
The incident has led to heightened concerns among locals over the lack of adequate safety measures in the area. They have criticized the absence of consistent police patrolling and raised alarms about substance abuse by visitors, demanding immediate remedial actions like CCTV installations and increased police presence.
