The Delhi High Court has reaffirmed the life sentences handed to Anil Kumar, also known as Kallu, and Surya Narain for the murder of Dooja Devi in 1997. Devi's body was discovered with fatal wounds in her Shiv Puri residence under circumstances pointing to both murder and robbery.
In rendering its decision, the court noted the compelling nature of evidence presented by the prosecution, which painted a detailed picture of the events surrounding the crime. This included last seen evidence, recovery of stolen items and blood-stained clothes, as well as witness identification of the accused near the crime scene.
The bench, comprising Justices Navin Chawla and Ravinder Dudeja, emphasized the absence of any illegality or perversity in the trial court's findings. Consequently, the appeal was dismissed, and both convicts were ordered to surrender within a week to serve their remaining sentence.
