The Civil Supplies Department of Telangana has intensified its actions against the illegal hoarding of LPG cylinders. Since March 12, approximately 3,700 domestic LPG cylinders have been seized, alongside 70 smaller ones valued at Rs 1.10 crore, as confirmed by officials on Friday.

This crackdown stems from stringent warnings issued in March by Civil Supplies Commissioner M Stephen Raveendra, who vowed to tackle LPG black-marketing aggressively. A total of 216 FIRs have already been lodged in response to these activities.

The efforts coincide with a broader government initiative to combat energy supply disruptions amid the ongoing crisis in West Asia, affecting transport through the Strait of Hormuz. Stern action will be taken against those illegally storing or reselling cooking gas.
