WCL Achieves Milestone in Coal Production and Sustainability Efforts

Progressing toward environmental goals, the company secured key clearances and engaged in vital sustainability projects, including Coal Gasification and First Mile Connectivity.

In a significant development, Western Coalfields Ltd (WCL), based in Nagpur, achieved a remarkable production feat by generating 63.03 million tonnes of coal in the financial year 2025-26, according to a company release.
The company also dispatched 60 million tonnes of coal, performed extensive Over Burden Removal of 354.33 million cubic metres, and obtained crucial environmental and forest clearances for expanding its operations. Key contributors to this success included the Wani, Nagpur, and Umrer operational areas.
WCL continues to drive forward with its sustainability initiatives, notably Coal Gasification projects and First Mile Connectivity, as it strives to transition to a Net-Zero company in the future.
