In a recent directive, the Himachal Pradesh government has reiterated its stance on maintaining a formal dress code and disciplined social media use among its employees. The announcement, dated March 16, was addressed to various administrative entities, urging strict compliance to foster a professional environment.

The order clearly outlines that employees must don clean, formal attire, shunning casual or party wear at the workplace. Male employees are expected to wear shirts with trousers and proper footwear, while female staff should opt for sarees, formal suits, or traditional Indian attire paired with suitable shoes. Jeans and T-shirts are strictly banned, reflecting the importance of decorum and the dignity of public service.

The memorandum also emphasizes the need for professional grooming and hygiene. It advises employees to adhere to the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules when engaging on social media, urging them to uphold integrity and avoid unauthorized comments on governmental policies. Breaches, including political expressions in public forums without prior authorization, could result in disciplinary consequences.
