In a move reflecting growing concern, Congress MP Mohammad Jawed, along with other opposition parliamentarians, has penned a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah. The correspondence urgently calls for action over reports of threats to Muslims in Delhi's Uttam Nagar.
The letter follows a protest by right-wing Hindu groups in response to a violent incident earlier this month, in which a young man named Tarun was killed during a neighborhood clash. Adding to tensions, members of Hindu outfits staged demonstrations, demanding accountability.
MP Jawed highlights the need for robust law enforcement, calling out what he perceives as a selective police response, undermining public confidence. He urges Shah to direct the police to maintain order without bias, ensuring the safety and dignity of all citizens under the Indian Constitution.
