Van Vihar Goes Eco-friendly: Electric Vehicles Replace Private Cars

In a bid to enhance environmental conservation and wildlife protection, Van Vihar National Park in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, has announced a ban on the entry of private vehicles from October 1. Instead, visitors will be transported within the park using golf carts and electric vehicles managed by the park administration. Walking and cycling continue to be welcomed.

The initiative was officially launched by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who flagged off a new fleet of electric vehicles. The park's management believes that this move will bolster the safety of animals and ensure that tourists have an opportunity to experience an environment that mirrors the animals' natural habitat.

Vijay Kumar, Director of the Van Vihar National Park, emphasized the dual goals of promoting tourism and safeguarding wildlife. Visitors can choose between scheduled golf cart services priced at Rs 60, with stops at major attractions, or opt for a private cart experience. Bicycle fees remain unchanged with separate rates for personal and park-provided cycles. Parking facilities have been arranged outside the park for vehicles.
