On Wednesday, floral tributes marked the first death anniversary of IAF Corporal Tage Hailyang in Arunachal Pradesh's Lower Subansiri district. The occasion was held at Tajang village, signifying the ongoing impact of Hailyang's sacrifice, as he was among the 26 victims of a terror attack in Pahalgam last April.
At the Rake memorial site, a statue of the late Corporal, graced with traditional white scarves and marigolds, was unveiled by his father, Tage Tade. The soldier's journey from humble beginnings to serving in the Indian Air Force is told on nearby black granite plaques.
A moving tribute included a moment of silence in honor of Hailyang's humility and kindness, with notable attendance by Ziro-Hapoli MLA Hage Appa. Tage Tade, in a heartfelt speech, spoke of the indelible pride his son's sacrifice brings, inspiring local youth with his legacy: 'While my son cannot return, his story ensures that his sacrifice was not in vain.'
