NCP (SP) Opposes Thane Ring Metro Project as Costly and Unnecessary

The NCP (SP) has voiced strong opposition to the proposed Rs 12,200-crore Thane Internal Ring Metro project, describing it as an extravagant and ineffective solution to the city's traffic issues. Instead, they propose investing Rs 1,000 crore in electric buses as a more feasible alternative.

Manoj Pradhan, NCP's city president, questioned the government's funding plans for the project, pointing out the potential negative impact on the city's already constrained road infrastructure. He emphasized that this project could mean further congestion and inconvenience for Thane's commuters.

Pradhan called on the public to speak out against such high-cost initiatives, which, according to him, do not address the genuine needs of the residents. He urged a focus on pragmatic solutions that ensure equitable urban development.
