The Indian Air Force (IAF) launched a two-day fighter-jet exercise on an emergency airstrip along Uttar Pradesh's Purvanchal Expressway. Aimed at evaluating the airstrip's capability as an alternative runway during emergencies, the exercise involves advanced fighter jets performing 'touch-and-go' operations.
Authorities have implemented heightened security measures and diverted traffic on a 12-km stretch of the expressway. An air traffic control system has been set up to manage aircraft movements, while local residents have been advised to maintain a safe distance.
District Magistrate Indrajeet Singh highlighted the drill's strategic objectives and the deployment of police across a 4-5-km radius. The exercise coincides with the anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, adding a layer of significance to the operations.
