Sri Lanka's cabinet has greenlighted projects in the eastern province, funded by an Indian grant, Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath revealed on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Public Administration is working on finalizing the agreements with the Indian High Commission to kick-start the project initiatives.

Under a Memorandum of Understanding signed by both nations on April 5, India agreed to contribute 2,371 million Sri Lankan rupees for 33 development projects, forming part of India's ongoing multi-sectoral grants programme in Sri Lanka.
