In a robust stride towards self-sufficiency, India has executed its first structured pulse procurement initiative under the flagship Aatmanirbhar Pulses Mission, according to the Union Food Ministry.
In Bihar, over 100 tonnes of masoor dal have been procured at the state-mandated minimum support price, underscoring the government's intent to enhance pulse production resiliency. This procurement is a segment of the Price Support Scheme under PM-AASHA Yojana.
The efforts extend to Chhattisgarh, where the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India procured 9,039 tonnes of chana and masoor, supported by initiatives to digitize farmer registrations and conduct awareness campaigns. The broader mission strives to fortify the MSP-based procurement processes nationwide, boosting price realization and transparency for farmers.
