A tragic incident unfolded on the Gorakhpur-Deoria highway when a speeding pickup lost control, resulting in the death of a 60-year-old man, Lobhith, early Tuesday morning. The vehicle struck Lobhith while he was cycling to unload a coal rack. He tragically died on the spot due to the impact, according to police statements.
The mishap occurred near Gahira Chaube Tola on the Motiram Adda-Jhagaha stretch. The pickup driver, Rajkumar Yadav—hailing from Gopalpur in Deoria's Pathardeva area—along with his associate Ramsagar Singh, sustained critical injuries and were transported to a local hospital for medical care.
The vehicle was carrying two cows to a Chhapia cattle market when the accident also claimed the lives of a cow and a calf being transported.
