A tragic incident unfolded in Manoharpur when a private sleeper bus caught fire after coming into contact with an 11 kV power line, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to ten others, according to officials.
The bus, transporting over 50 laborers from Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, was on a rural road when household items loaded on its roof touched the high-tension line. This contact reportedly led to the bus igniting. Officials indicated the improper transport included gas cylinders and motorcycles atop the vehicle.
Authorities, including the Jaipur District Collector, corroborated the event, noting that gas cylinders were ignited during the incident. An investigation is underway to determine how such cargo came to be on the bus. The state's Transportation Ministry signals a clampdown on unauthorized bus modifications.
