The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has withdrawn its recognition of the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI), citing failures to meet crucial legal and administrative requirements. This decision comes mere days after two senior national team players left the camp, alleging sub-par facilities and political interference in team selection processes.

A steering committee including Indian Olympic Association representatives and FIVB officials will now oversee volleyball activities in India. This committee is charged with safeguarding athlete welfare, conducting State Association elections, and ensuring that the VFI aligns with necessary governance frameworks.

The development followed revelations that athletes Anand K and John Joseph quit the national camp, criticizing the competence of coaches and the removal of coach Dragan Mihailovic. Their departure underscores broader frustrations within India's volleyball community, as the country prepares to host the Asian Volleyball Confederation Men's Cup.
