Uttarakhand's Leap into Sports Legacy: Dhami Announces 23 New Academies
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced the establishment of 23 sports academies under the 'Sports Legacy Plan,' aiming for a boost in sports infrastructure and talent. The initiative includes a sports university and special provisions for athletes, marking a significant step towards a sports-centric state.
In a decisive step towards bolstering its sports infrastructure, Uttarakhand is set to establish 23 new sports academies. Announced by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the 'Sports Legacy Plan' aims to nurture 920 world-class athletes annually.
During the inauguration of the 'Sansad Khel Mahotsav' at Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya, Dhami emphasized efforts to foster a vibrant sports culture in the state. The government's initiatives include the swift establishment of a sports university in Haldwani and a women's sports college in Lohaghat.
Dhami highlighted the state's achievement of 103 medals at the 38th National Games. The new sports policy, rewarding medalists with government jobs and prestigious awards, fortifies Uttarakhand’s commitment to athletic excellence.
