Blistering Alert: Heatwave Sweeps Across Andhra Pradesh
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority warns of severe heatwave conditions in several mandals across the state. Maximum temperatures could reach up to 45.1 degrees Celsius, affecting districts like Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Parvathipuram Manyam. The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued a warning for severe heatwave conditions across 30 mandals, affecting districts such as Srikakulam and Vizianagaram. Other mandals will experience moderate heatwaves, with temperatures expected to rise as high as 45.1 degrees Celsius.
The regions at greatest risk include Parvathipuram Manyam, Palnadu, and Prakasam, where temperatures could range between 43 and 44.5 degrees Celsius. In a statement, APSDMA's Managing Director, Prakhar Jain, urged residents to heed warnings and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the extreme weather.
Highs of over 40 degrees were recorded in 215 mandals on Thursday. Residents are advised to consume plenty of fluids such as water, lemon water, and buttermilk to remain hydrated and to avoid extended exposure to the sun. Severe conditions are projected for three mandals on Saturday, with heatwave conditions affecting 28 others.
