A mosque and a madrassa located in Mubarakpur Band village of Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district, constructed on government land, were demolished on Friday. The land was officially reserved as a playground and for compost pits, according to officials.

The operation, conducted with bulldozers and JCBs, took place under the watchful eyes of District Magistrate Rajendra Pensiya and Superintendent of Police Krishan Kumar. Naib Tehsildar Bablu Kumar confirmed the land was classified government property meant for a playground and compost pits. Villagers were initially asked to dismantle the structures themselves but later sought assistance from authorities.

This demolition is part of a broader initiative to establish a 'land bank' by clearing encroachments across Sambhal district. To date, about 125 hectares have been reclaimed. The reclaimed land will serve various government schemes, ensuring legal compliance and use of public land.
