A tragic accident claimed the lives of two individuals while leaving two others injured in the Baghray area when their car overturned while attempting to avoid a stray bull, police disclosed on Thursday.

The unfortunate incident transpired late Wednesday night near Chheunga village on the Lalgopalganj-Jethwara-Pratapgarh road, roughly 50 kilometers from the district headquarters. Additional Superintendent of Police (West) Brijnandan Rai affirmed that the vehicle's occupants were en route from a wedding in Kunda when the driver lost control, trying to dodge the bull.

Identified victims include Raju Tiwari, 45, and Sarvesh Kumar, 38, a village employment assistant, both pronounced dead at the Baghray Community Health Centre. DK Saroj, 32, a local village head, and Prabhakar Singh, 38, sustained critical injuries and were referred to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj. Authorities have sent the bodies for post-mortem.
