The upcoming playoff against Ukraine is crucial for their World Cup qualification hopes.
Graham Potter has committed to leading the Swedish national football team until 2030, following an announcement by the Swedish Football Association. The coach, known for his earlier success with Ostersund, believes in Sweden's potential to return to the top level of international football.
Potter, who previously managed clubs like Chelsea and West Ham, originally signed on for a short-term role with Sweden back in October 2025. He expressed his pride and sense of responsibility in this extended position, viewing it as a fantastic opportunity to contribute to Swedish football.
Currently, Sweden is working to revitalize its international reputation after underperforming in World Cup qualifiers under the previous coach. A critical match against Ukraine looms on March 26 in Valencia, Spain. Victory there would advance them to a further pivotal game against Poland or Albania in Stockholm, determining their participation in the World Cup in North America this summer.
