A scheduled cloud-seeding trial in Delhi was postponed on Wednesday due to a lack of adequate moisture in the clouds, according to a statement from the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K).
The Delhi government, in collaboration with IIT-Kanpur, carried out two cloud-seeding trials on Tuesday, which failed to produce precipitation in the city. However, rainfall was reported in Noida and Greater Noida. These trials focused on areas across Delhi, such as Burari, North Karol Bagh, Mayur Vihar, and Badli.
Despite the limited precipitation, the trials provided significant data. IIT-Kanpur observed reductions in PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations, demonstrating cloud seeding's potential impact on air quality improvement. The institute emphasized the importance of these insights for future operations, thereby reinforcing their commitment to enhancing environmental outcomes in the National Capital Region.
