Justice Department Shake-Up: Prosecutors on Leave After Capitol Mob Memo
Two prosecutors, Samuel White and Carlos Valdivia, were placed on leave following a memo referring to Trump supporters as a 'mob of rioters.' This comes amid sentencing preparations for Taylor Taranto, who faced gun charges following actions linked to Obama's alleged address post by Trump.
The U.S. Justice Department placed two prosecutors on administrative leave after they referred to Trump supporters as a 'mob of rioters' in a sentencing memo. This decision affects Assistant U.S. Attorneys Samuel White and Carlos Valdivia and comes ahead of Taylor Taranto's sentencing for gun charges.
Taranto's conviction follows an incident linked to Trump's online post about Obama's address. Despite being pardoned for his Capitol assault role, Taranto faced new charges after falsely claiming intent to cause harm near the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
The leave of the prosecutors reflects a pattern of personnel changes affecting Justice Department staff involved in cases unfavorable to Trump, with over 200 personnel affected. Jonathan Hornok is now involved in Taranto's case, representing ongoing case developments.
