West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday criticized the deployment of central forces, including CRPF armored vehicles, during the Assembly elections. Speaking at a TMC rally in North 24 Parganas, she alleged the BJP-led central government was using its resources to skew the democratic process in its favor.
Banerjee accused the Center of engaging all government wings, including the railways and various central forces, to intimidate voters. She questioned the unprecedented presence of two lakh central force personnel, emphasizing elections should be a democratic festival and not a display of military might.
The chief minister highlighted perceived biases in state police actions and warned of large-scale deletions from voter lists, potentially leading to deportations if BJP gains power. She also criticized the BJP for extensive campaign spending and alleged attempts to manipulate the election through restrictions and resourcing tactics.
