In a fervent speech at a poll rally in Bankura district, TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee lambasted the BJP for not delivering on its pledges while vowing that West Bengal's welfare schemes such as 'Lakshmir Bhandar' would persist without disruption. The scheme offers monthly financial support to women, which Banerjee assured would remain intact for a lifetime.
Highlighting alleged lapses in BJP's commitments, Banerjee challenged the 16 BJP-ruled states to implement similar benefits without discrimination, asserting that their failure to do so diminishes their credibility. He underscored the TMC's achievements, including rural road enhancements funded without central aid, promising further infrastructural investment over the coming years.
Further, Banerjee targeted BJP's proposal of a universal basic income for women as deceitful, citing the nonexistent delivery of such promises in BJP-governed states. Accusing the party of perpetuating anti-women sentiments, he urged voters to hold BJP accountable, as West Bengal's assembly elections loom large with dates set for April 23 and April 29.
