The BJP's West Bengal unit chief, Samik Bhattacharya, on Saturday accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of being akin to a 'living fossil', suggesting its time in power is waning due to widespread public rejection.
Bhattacharya alleged that the TMC regime has dismantled the democratic fabric of the state and allowed lawlessness to prevail, with political violence escalating in recent years while authorities turned a blind eye. He claimed that democracy has been eroded as TMC's strongmen engaged in violent activities.
The state's financial woes were also highlighted, with Bhattacharya noting the massive rise in debt under TMC rule and a notable departure of businesses. He assured that a BJP victory would reinstate democracy and boost investor confidence, countering the TMC's alleged politicization and mismanagement.
