Tamil Nadu, under the leadership of Chief Minister M K Stalin, hailed a significant victory as the Constitution Amendment Bill failed to pass in the Lok Sabha. According to CM Stalin, "Tamil Nadu defeats Delhi; TN fought, TN won," emphasizing the unity and democratic spirit of the southern state.
The bill aimed to implement women's reservation in legislatures by 2029 and increase Lok Sabha seats. However, Stalin pointed out that the Centre could have separated the Women's Reservation Bill but chose not to, stating, "women are watching."
