An unfortunate road accident in Valparai, Tamil Nadu, resulted in the deaths of eight tourists on Friday. The incident occurred when a tempo traveller, carrying a group of 13 individuals from Perinthalmanna, Kerala, went out of control at the 13th hairpin bend and careened down to the 9th hairpin bend.

According to Valparai Police, the vehicle was driven by Mohammed Fasith, 21, who struggled to negotiate the bend. The tragic accident claimed the lives of one male and seven females instantly, while five others, including the driver and two male juveniles, were severely injured. Prompt assistance from emergency services ensured their quick transfer to Pollachi Government Hospital.

A rapid response was mounted, with 16 ambulances dispatched to the scene. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed their condolences. Investigation into the accident's cause is ongoing, with authorities dedicated to providing necessary support to the victims' families.
