Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP president Sunetra Pawar has initiated a strategic move in the political arena by seeking support from Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray for the critical Baramati by-election. Pawar, who will run as her party's candidate, reportedly reached out to Thackeray on Friday.
The dialogues between these significant political figures were confirmed by Shiv Sena (UBT) secretary Milind Narvekar and senior party leader Sanjay Raut, who revealed that a detailed discussion took place. According to sources, Thackeray is not opposed to lending his support to Sunetra Pawar given his strong rapport with the Pawar family.
The Baramati bypoll, necessitated by the untimely passing of Ajit Pawar, is set for April 23. As political strategies unfold, Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal has announced that Congress will contest the bypoll, in contrast to NCP's decision to back Sunetra Pawar. The application for nominations is expected soon, as Sunetra continues to navigate her political journey following her husband's legacy.
