Tamil film director Sundar C has ventured into active politics, contesting as the AIADMK-led NDA candidate from the Madurai Central constituency for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly polls on April 23. In an interview, Sundar emphasized his desire to contribute back to society, citing his inspiration from the strong support the region showed to late chief minister M G Ramachandran.
After spending 30 years in the film industry, Sundar expressed that his successful career in cinema was due to public support. He acknowledged that individual efforts to give back to society have limitations and expressed his belief that political power could provide the needed strength to make a broader impact.
Running as part of the Puthiya Neethi Katchi within the AIADMK-led NDA, Sundar is set to challenge DMK candidate and regional political heavyweight Palanivel Thiagarajan. Drawing parallels to his preparation process for filmmaking, Sundar stated that he has thoroughly prepared himself to face the electoral challenge ahead.
