The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has unveiled its ambitious manifesto ahead of the April 9 elections in Kerala, pledging an array of welfare and development projects for the state. Chief among these is the promise to legislate pensions as a legal right, emphasizing that such welfare is not an act of charity.
Highlights of the manifesto dubbed 'Indira Guarantees' by Rahul Gandhi, offer substantial benefits like free bus travel for women, monthly stipends for college girls, comprehensive health insurance, and interest-free loans for young entrepreneurs. Plans to bolster senior citizens' welfare, boost Kerala's economy, and establish new educational institutions are also detailed.
The UDF is committed to promoting social harmony with proposals for a Ministry of Tolerance and a Social Harmony Department. In addition, initiatives are set to support vulnerable groups, enhance public health, and invigorate traditional industries, with a strategic vision to elevate Kerala to the top-ranked state in India.
