As West Bengal gears up for its imminent assembly elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has leveled serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of attempting to disrupt the electoral process to impose President's rule in the state.
Addressing a rally in Sagardighi, CM Banerjee claimed that Wednesday's hostage situation involving seven judicial officers in Malda was orchestrated by the BJP. She stated that the law and order situation was no longer under her control due to influence from the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Home Ministry.
Banerjee expressed concerns over the BJP's intentions and accused the party of provoking unrest to justify canceling the elections. The recent incident in Malda, where judicial officers were held hostage amid protests over electoral roll deletions, has added to the volatile political scenario, prompting intervention by the Supreme Court.
