The Indian Lok Sabha on Tuesday reinstated eight opposition members who were suspended for 'unruly' behavior earlier this year. The decision came after intense deliberations, with Speaker Om Birla reiterating the importance of maintaining decorum within the House.
Congress member K Suresh initiated the appeal for the revocation, acknowledging past disruptions as regrettable and pledging cooperation for smooth proceedings. In response, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stressed the need for a 'Laxman Rekha' or boundary, ensuring proper conduct by both opposition and treasury benches.
The suspended MPs, including seven from Congress and one from CPI-M, welcomed the revocation and reiterated their commitment to democratic values. The resolution reflects a broader consensus to respect parliamentary procedures and prioritize cooperation over conflict.
