Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted a pivotal meeting with Odisha's BJP MLAs and Rajya Sabha poll candidates ahead of the March 16 Upper House elections. During his day-long visit to Odisha, Shah held marathon official programmes and crucial discussions with party leaders and poll candidates at the state's BJP headquarters.

The BJP is pushing for the victory of its named candidates, Manmohan Samal and MP Sujeet Kumar, while supporting Independent nominee Dilip Ray. Shah, known as a key strategist, provided insights on winning the Rajya Sabha polls. Beyond organizational matters, discussions centered on ensuring electoral success.

Odisha's Rajya Sabha elections will fill four seats. The BJP, with 79 MLAs and some independent support, is short of eight votes for securing three MPs. Meanwhile, the opposition BJD leads its MPs and backs a common candidate. With the Congress and CPI(M)'s support, the stage is set for a contested election.
