Indian Paralympic medallist Preethi Pal marked the start of a three-day celebration for International Women's Day, hosted by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) at Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The event, which unfolded on Saturday, saw an assembly of notable guests and participants coming together ahead of the global celebration on March 8.

In a ceremonial gesture, Preethi Pal inaugurated the event by lighting a ceremonial lamp. She then joined various guests, including women personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), in a yoga session — part of the fitness activities organized for the event. Attendees included renowned nutritionists and entrepreneurs, recognized for contributions to sports, nutrition, and community development.

Preethi Pal, who has earned accolades for India with her Paralympic bronze and Arjuna Award, was honored during the event. Emphasizing fitness, the ceremony echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Fit India Movement. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports planned a nationwide sports event under the ASMITA initiative, coordinated by the Sports Authority of India and MY Bharat, spanning 250 locations for women aged 14 to 28.
