Authorities in Assam are investigating claims of Bangladesh's national anthem being sung at a Congress Seva Dal meeting, according to officials on Wednesday.

District administrators, acting on oral directives from Fishery Minister Krishnendu Paul, are probing the incident that allegedly took place in Sribhumi district on Tuesday. The event video sparked accusations from Paul, linking Congress to historic territorial partitions.

Congress leaders, including Sribhumi's Tapas Purkayastha, denied any wrongdoing, criticizing BJP's focus on non-issues while emphasizing national poet Rabindranath Tagore's legacy. Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi labeled the incident as a politically motivated distraction.
