Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor declared his support for rebel BJP candidate Anup Kumar Srivastava during a press conference in Gopalganj, Bihar. Kishor made the announcement following the withdrawal of his original nominee, Shashi Shekhar Sinha, who allegedly left the race under BJP pressure.
Kishor called Srivastava's case an 'exception' to his party's policy of not backing candidates from other parties who join Jan Suraaj close to elections. Srivastava, a known social worker and former BJP district president, chose to run as an Independent, claiming he'd been overlooked by the BJP in favor of wealthier candidates.
Amidst ongoing allegations that BJP pressures rival candidates to withdraw, Kishor supported Srivastava, unable to provide a party symbol due to procedural constraints but promising full backing. Kishor's move signals an intent to challenge BJP tactics and strengthen Jan Suraaj's political influence.
