Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, received a notice on Tuesday over purported irregularities in his voter registration. Kishor is allegedly listed as a voter both in his native Bihar and neighboring West Bengal, sparking a political stir.
The notice, issued by the Rohtas district election office in Bihar, requests Kishor to respond within three days. It cites Section 31 of the Representation of People Act, which prohibits dual voter registration. Violations can result in imprisonment or fines.
Kishor, who was actively campaigning in Araria district, criticized the Election Commission for failing to address the discrepancy and insinuated political motives behind the notice, suggesting influence from the ruling BJP.
