Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Tuesday dismissed allegations of dual voter registration, asserting his sole enrollment as a voter from Bihar's Kargahar Assembly constituency since 2019. Kishor clarified that while he briefly obtained a voter ID in Kolkata, his active registration returned to Kargahar by 2021.

Kishor, responding to an Election Commission notice, questioned their procedures, stating, "If the ECI is saying that my name is enrolled as an elector in other places as well, then why are they troubling everyone by carrying out the SIR? I have nothing to do with the notice issued by the ECI." Emphasizing his voter registration details, Kishor reiterated, "I am a voter from the Kargahar Assembly constituency since 2019. For two years in Kolkata, I applied for a voter ID there. Since 2021, my ID is solely for Kargahar."

The Election Commission issued the notice amid claims of dual enrolment, demanding Kishor's clarification within three days. The Returning Officer of Kargahar Assembly cited a report on 28.10.2025, alleging his registration in both Bihar and West Bengal, urging him to present his case regarding dual constituency entries.

According to reports, Kishor's name appears in the electoral roll for West Bengal's Bhabanipur and Bihar's 209-Kargahar Legislatures. The upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, scheduled for November 6 and 11, bring increased scrutiny on this issue.

The Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) intended to update the voter list has faced significant backlash from opposition parties. (ANI)
