Delhi's Urgent Survey: Cracking Down on Misuse of Residential Spaces

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched a critical initiative to address the improper use of residential properties for commercial activities. This operation comes in response to a directive from the Supreme Court, which mandates municipal bodies in capitals to conduct detailed audits and submit verified reports.

The MCD's directive, issued on April 20, instructs zonal deputy commissioners to carry out a comprehensive and time-sensitive survey. This survey will encompass all types of residential colonies, both authorized and unauthorized, as well as group housing societies and specific zones within the MCD's jurisdiction.

Field surveys will be conducted to generate accurate and documented lists of violations. The findings will contribute to a formal affidavit, which will be presented to the apex court. MCD warns that delays or inaccuracies will lead to serious repercussions, with the final submission slated for presentation by the MCD commissioner.
