The Delhi High Court, on Thursday, demanded explanations from AAP leaders including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Sanjay Singh, and Congress leader Digvijay Singh regarding a PIL that accuses them of contempt by sharing clips of court hearings on social media.
A bench of justices has prompted social media platforms to remove these unauthorized recordings, as recording and sharing court proceedings are prohibited under high court rules. Meta and Google have already taken down some flagged content, highlighting their compliance once notified by the court.
The PIL argues that sharing these recordings undermines judiciary independence and advances political agendas. The court has asked social media platforms to investigate the origin of these uploads. Furthermore, there's a call for a special investigation team to probe the alleged conspiracy behind these actions.
