In a major policy shift, Punjab's Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains declared that the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) is set to directly supply textbooks to students in private schools from the 2026-27 session, cutting out bookshops and authorized agencies.

The initiative aims to increase transparency, reduce family costs, and ensure schools only act as distribution channels without profit. A 15% discount previously given to sellers will now benefit students directly, easing financial strains on families.

PSEB's e-commerce portal will enable online orders with secure payments, ensuring no extra charges are incurred. Regional offices will prepare textbook bundles, and schools must comply with strict pricing policies, highlighting Punjab's commitment to accessible education.
