The Delhi High Court has taken a firm stance against the Delhi Police over allegations of torture and illegal detention involving activists last month. Justices Navin Chawla and Ravinder Dudeja stressed that legal procedures must be strictly followed even in severe cases.
The court warned that it would consider referring the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) if appropriate actions aren't taken. It stated, "We are not concerned with how grave an allegation is, and we are concerned with procedure."
While the police denied all allegations, providing a sealed report, the court found it unsatisfactory and demanded the entire case file for further review. The controversy stems from a series of detentions, which the police claim were lawful, linked to Maoist activities.
