The Haryana Assembly is set to convene for a special session on April 27, where significant legislative developments are anticipated. Chief Minister Nayab Saini announced plans to introduce a bill focused on the promotion of Group D employees, alongside addressing a censure motion against opposition parties for their role in defeating a proposed amendment to the women's quota law in the Lok Sabha.
Chief Minister Saini, addressing the media, accused opposition parties like the Congress and Samajwadi Party of thwarting the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha, which aimed to operationalize a 33 percent reservation for women in legislative bodies. The bill's defeat was framed as a setback to women's empowerment and national development.
Saini further stated that the upcoming session would also introduce the Haryana Clerical Service Bill, 2026, to boost the promotion quota for Group D employees. This legislative stride is part of the government's broader commitment, under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, to advance women's roles in various societal sectors, emphasizing empowerment and self-reliance.
