Police in Mahoba's Haivatpura Brahmanan village discovered that Prajapati was allegedly killed by his wife, three children, and a family friend due to financial disputes.
The 36-year-old's body was initially found in a village drain, with the family accusing a neighbor. However, inconsistencies in their statements led police to suspect the family. Officers, including the Special Operations Group, dug deeper and found evidence pointing towards the family as the main suspects.
During interrogation, it emerged that the family feared Prajapati would waste the Rs 82,500 meant for his daughter's wedding. He was reportedly addicted to alcohol and gambling. Persisting with his dangerous habits, the family plotted to strangle him and dispose of his body, later attempting to obliterate evidence. The accused are now in custody as further legal actions progress.
