The gathering, armed with stones and catapults, reportedly intended to vandalize the newly constructed building, prompting police to issue repeated warnings prior to the firing. Despite initial measures to control the situation, the advancing crowd necessitated controlled firing as a last resort under established protocols, resulting in injuries to Elangbam Nandbir Singh, a Village Defence Force personnel.
