A 27-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, Bilal, allegedly took his own life after falling victim to blackmail, as police reported on Friday. The deceased was reportedly caught in a suspected honey trap operation linked to a phone number from Pakistan.

The local police have initiated a formal investigation into the tragic incident following a complaint by the deceased's brother, Suhail. Their preliminary findings indicate that Bilal might have consumed a poisonous substance. The accusations involve Bilal receiving messages containing compromising photos, followed by financial demands.

Authorities discovered Bilal's body on April 14 in Malakpur village. The investigation aims to unravel the details of this disturbing case, while the bereaved family, including his wife and three children, awaits justice. Superintendent of Police N P Singh confirmed that all leads are being explored to ensure closure for the family.
