Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh fiercely defended the proposed amendment to the women's quota law, countering opposition claims of hasty decision-making. He asserted that the amendment is backed by three years of meticulous groundwork.

During the Lok Sabha discussion, Singh, an MP from JDU and Panchayati Raj Minister, highlighted the government's first significant step towards women's equal participation in 2023 with the passing of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. The current amendment, he argues, is a continuation of carefully constructed policies.

Singh further warned that the opposition would face long-term political consequences if they failed to support the 131st Amendment Bill. The bill, alongside the Delimitation and Union Territories Laws Amendment Bills, aims to implement the women's quota law in Delhi, Puducherry, and Jammu and Kashmir.
