Delhi Police Busts Fake Customer Care Scam; Two Arrested in Jhansi

Delhi Police have successfully apprehended two individuals from Jhansi in connection with a high-tech con job involving the impersonation of e-commerce customer service representatives. The operation was busted following the complainant, Arvind's experience, who lost Rs 1.25 lakh after inadvertently engaging with the scammers upon purchasing a defective electronic shaver online.

The fraud unfolded when Arvind, seeking a refund, found a seemingly authentic customer care number online. The scammers, leveraging this fake identity, manipulated Arvind through social media and persuaded him to share his phone screen, which subsequently led to unauthorized withdrawals from his bank accounts.

On tracing the financial transactions, police linked the fraud trail to suspects Pankaj Yadav and Satyam Yadav, who were found to be part of a broader network operating from Jharkhand, with associates managing banking fraud logistics in Jhansi. The case underscores the threat of cyber fraud facilitated by fraudulent online listings.
