Dacoits operating in the riverbed areas between Sindh and Punjab provinces in Pakistan have shifted their focus from highway robberies to stealing critical equipment used to ensure travellers' security. Surveillance cameras, solar panels, and street lights are among the items targeted, severely impacting law enforcement's monitoring capabilities.
The thefts have been concentrated along a 200-kilometre stretch of the Sukkur-Multan motorway, particularly affecting operations in the Sindh province where dacoits are notorious for nefarious activities.
Authorities are concerned about the growing trend and are exploring strategies to safeguard these crucial assets from further theft, aiming to restore secure passage through the region.
